Furniture Design builds on a legacy of visionary design leadership in one of the nation’s most renowned programs.
The way I approach design is not much different than the way I approach most things in life. I observe and ask questions in order to learn and build empathy. This method usually starts with a curiosity and it generally leads to more questions which then, develops a deeper understanding of the world around me.
Greater curiosity begets greater creativity. If I was not a curious person I would not be a creative person. Curiosity rounds out my creativity by creating a desire to engage with more artistic mediums and explore unordinary ideas and ways of thinking that will ultimately guide me to solve more problems and create more engaging and egalitarian design solutions.
What is your most memorable
experience at KCAD?
During my first semester I took Design Drawing with Vyana Slattery. The environment that was created through the beautiful way the class was taught, as well as the conversations that were shared, helped me to see the world in a different and greater way. That experience was one that I look back on very fondly.
What are your most
notable accomplishments?
I was a finalist for the 2020 ISFD Pinnacle Awards in the Student Award category with my VinylMod storage console.
I also designed the artwork and packaging for five singles and two EPs, as well as developed a brand/identity for the respective touring cycles for the band Michigander.
